Did you accidentally drop the premium organic extra virgin olive oil while cooking? It must be so heartbreaking even to think that you wasted the 'liquid gold' (as what most people refer to olive oil as). But, you know what's worse? The drops of best domestic olive oil getting on all over the surface. It can be challenging to clean it up since it is a greasy product. Fret not! There are several home tricks to remove olive oil stains from various surfaces. However, we will suggest you avoid these situations!
Below, we have listed the top five ways to remove an olive oil stain!
- To remove oil stains on linen or cotton: If the stain is new, apply some talcum powder or soda to it. Then, apply detergent and rub it smoothly. Finally, wash the garment as usual. However, if the stain is old, apply a few drops of alcohol you use for domestic use. Then, gently rub the area using your hands with soap and warm water. Finally, you can wash the material in the washing machine.
- To remove oil stains on denim: Use dishwashing soap and bicarbonate to wash off the stain. Apply these items and rub the area, allowing it to rest for a few minutes. Then, wash the denim as usual in your washing machine. Remember not to use lemon or any citric acid; otherwise, the color will fade away and weaken the fibers.
- To clean olive oil stains on silk garments: Firstly, read the instructions mentioned on the label. Dilute vinegar in cold water and apply the mixture to the stained area with a sponge. Then, let the garment soak for a few minutes and rinse it with cold water. Finally, you can use the washing machine to clean the garment. If the stain is excessively stubborn, apply a thick layer of cornstarch before washing it. Make sure not to use any dishwashing soap.
- To remove olive oil stains from synthetic garments: Use an absorbent product, like cornstarch and baking soda, and let it rest on the stain. You can also rub the stain using dishwashing soap and water. Then, you can wash it as usual in the washing machine.
- To clean olive oil stains on wool garments: Use the baking soda method as mentioned in the above-listed points. If the stain appears serious, add hydrogen peroxide to the baking soda. Then, wash the garment as usual in a washing machine without spinning and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the detergent. Make sure to lay the garment flat to dry; otherwise, it will become deformed if you hang it out.
